Jabalpur Engineering college owns the credit to be amongst very first institutes to establish the "Information Technology" department in Madhya Pradesh when IT BOOM innovated the roadmap to a new dedicated department to fulfill India's ever rising demand of IT engineers in IT sector in 1999. Also nowdays one more legendary phenomena is being attached with this department's building that "Indian Institute Of Information Technology" is being conducted efficiently from it for completion of it's own building in "Dumana" with as advanced as facilities in India one can imagine for any technical institute.
Also IT Dptt. of jec is exploiting the availbility of 2 huge laboratories with more than 300 systems including 10 most recent servers fully configured in LANs. The students of first batch of this discipline not only cleared campus interviews but were also selected by Research Institutions. The Principal of this college is making untiring efforts for the progress of this dept. M.O.U. has been signed with Cisco and I.B.M. By this agreement the teachers will receive training in the field of software. Under the expertise and guidance of the staff of I.B.M. the students will take up project work. M.O.U. has also been signed with Sun Micro System which will produce technically qualified manpower with a talent to become the top echelons of the society in future.
