Chemistry Department


In 1947 the Dptt. of Chemistry was started with one Asstt. Professor to teach the chemistry of engineering materials. The department was raised to the status of Post-Graduate level in 1962 when M.Sc. classes in Applied Chemistry were started. The students are imparted training in Applied Physical, Applied Inorganic and Applied Organic Chemistry. Special training is given to these students to be ombersent with the modern instrumentation for the analysis of materials.

From 1962 onwards facilities are provided for research work to deserving students leading to the degree of Ph.D. At present two stipends leading to degree of Ph.D. At present two stipends from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and four stipends of research training scholarships awarded by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, are allotted to this department.
