Civil engineering deptt, is one of the pioneering deptts, in the entire region of M.P. It stands elegantly in the heart of the college, stretching over an area of 4889.00 sq. m., surrounded by various other deptts and the administrative block. The deptt is well-geared with 10 laboratories the Structural Lab, Geology Lab, Remote Sensing Lab etc., which are being modernized with the latest equipments. Two more laboratories-Advanced Environmental Laboratory and Non Destructive Testing laboratory are proposed under the World Bank Project. The deptt has a highly qualified and committed faculty in adequate number. Apart from imparting education to U.G. and P.G. students they have contributed significantly in providing testing and consultancy services to local industries and state govt. deptts.
They were constantly involved in the following academic activities throughout the current session :
1. A prof. of the deptt presented three research papers in national level seminars.
2. A faculty member delivered a lecture on "Water Harvesting" at a conference of Chief Municipal Officers, organized by Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur.
3. For the "accreditation" of the deptt a team of experts from A.I.C.T.E.(N.B.A.) visited the Dpt.
4. In Madhya Pradesh this college is the technical representative of Prime Minister Rural Road Project. One of the professors of the Dpt. is its president. Under the project minute survey was made of the designs of more than 100 road-projects in about 30 districts. The Dpt. has also earned the status of " State Technical Agency" under this project of P.M.G.S.Y.
5. The deptt gives expert suggestions and consultancy to the desirous organizations and industries.
6. Three faculty-members are pursuing their research work.
7. A student of the deptt presented two research-papers-one in National seminar and the other in the Symposium. The paper presented by him won the best paper Award in the National Symposium.
8. Sincere efforts are being made for procuring the best of the equipments for all the ten laboratories of the Dpt.
9. Remote Sensing lab has been further development in accordance to the changing scenario. The Deptt also has computer based "Geographical Information System" to accommodate the academic needs of the students.
