About JECAA
The foundation of jabalpur Enginerering College Alumni Association was laid on 5th Sep. 1993 by 12 senior alumni with Er. Santosh Kumar Gupta of 1st batch as president, Er. Sharad Jain of 1st batch as V.P., Er. H.C. Verma, 1st batch as Treasurer and Dr. R.K. Dave of 1963 batch as Hony. Secy. Other Eight members and GEC principal were appointed as Executive Council Members. This association was formed with the view to inculcate a feeling of responsibility and belonging to Alma-mater. Till date 1634 alumni and all students studying in 1st and 3rd semester are life members of this association. About 8 lacs, collected of which the following financial assurance is given to promote academic excellence in the college.
With the increase in number of engineering institution in the country, the trend all over the world is towards mobilization of resources on their own, rather than depending upon funding from been able to establish Business Management Schools of their own from heavy donation received from their alumni. In foreign countries most prestigious institutions depend hypothec support from their alumni.
1. News Letter - cum - Directory
News Letter - cum - directory of about 275 members and 57 student members ( Paying) Rs. 50/- each ) was published in 1994; second News Letter and separate directory containing names, addresses and telephone numbers of 419 members and 82 students members was published in Feb. 1996; 3rd News Letter- cum directory containing names, addresses and telephone nos. of 770 members and 175 student members was released on July 1996 - the year our Alma - Mater entered in its 50th year.
2. Exemption from Income Tax:
Right from the year 1993 accounts for 93 - '94 and up to 2001-2002 have been audited every year by a Chartered Accountant. Our association has been exempted from payment of tax on its income u/s 12 A (a) of Income-Tax Act i1961. we have met Chief Commissioners IT. for obtaining exemption under sec.80-G but have not succeeded so far. Alumni donating to A. A. naturally expect some relief in income tax. Permanent Acct No. from IT. Dept. in respect of JECAA has been received.
3. Our Target :
In the General body Meeting on 7th July, 2002 it was decided that we should build a Corpus fund of Rs. one crore so that from annual interest of about Rs. 10 lacks per year, essential improvements in hostels, departments laboratories, library and sports activities can be carried out. Alumni having passed 25 years ago were appealed to give a minimum of Rs. 5000/- if he/she has passed engineering 25 years ago. it is only a matter of making up one's mind .
4. Foundation for Excellence Santa Clara California USA:
Ex IITians Ers. Prabhu Goel & Kanwal Rakhi venture capitalists settled in California USA have set up Foundation for Excellence with 15 million US dollars to give financial assistance to level in the faculty of their choice including engineering medicine & Computer Science. The Foundation tries to meet deserving student's whole expenditure is an academic year on school / college fee, books, hostel fee and messing chrges. Assistance is renewed every year depending upon the performance of the students.
